4: Our Vision

Our future bullet train would be constructed of the same high tech materials and travel at half the speed of a commercial jet. It is important to all Albertans that we have the safest and best maintained high speed rail system in the world.

We would propose that all suppliers of equipment, components, rails, ties, & rail cars be required to install "Contact Memory Buttons" on all high value or high maintenance items. A contact memory button (CMB) is a self contained read/write memory chip with a unique serial number about the size of a dime. All relevant data would be recorded on the CMB's at the manufacturer. This information would be used to monitor delivery and construction of the rail system.

Memory Buttons are so robust, they can withstand the rigors of our climate. They will store maintenance and inspection information for up to 100 years, which will aid future generations of Albertans to manage our "Bullet Train" legacy.
